The Academy has been created in response to the growing need for full time child care in the downtown Chicago area. In addition to just addressing the need for child care, the Academy brings the value and benefit of an all day Montessori program to the children of Chicago. Established at the turn of the century, Montessori education is a flow experience, that begins at birth. "All-Day Montessori" is an established practice which provides parents with an educational alternative to what is commonly thought of as "day care." In a Montessori setting, the children are not shuffled from space to space, but are rather grounded in an area that they recognize as their own. In this way, Montessori directly contrasts the "before- and after-school" approach, which tends to place children from different classes into a multi-purpose space with a few toys. Through an emphasis on uniquely prepared environments, the Montessori model serves not only to meet the physical needs of the child, but also provides an activity based learning environment that mirrors the warmth of home, with educational possibilities to rival those used at colleges, universities and vocational centers around the nation. For us the goal is simple: to awaken the love of learning inherent in every child. Call us today to find out more about our unique environments.
