SUMMARY:Continued Parent Enrichment: Literacy at MAC (for Kindergarten and Elementary students)
DESCRIPTION:The literacy team at MAC will be implementing the Units of Study\nReading and Writing program for grades K-6. This new reading\nprogram’s mission is geared toward making our students skillful and\navid readers and writers. We will share the components and process\nof making a successful impact on our student’s literacy development.\nThe Units of Study program was developed by Teacher’s College\nReading and Writing Project at Columbia University. The Academy\nhas joined the thousands of schools that have implemented the\nTCRWP’s Units of Study for Reading and Writing program for grades\nK-6. We believe the approach to balance literacy developed by\nthe TCRWP are aligned with the process of reading and writing in\nMontessori classrooms from primary through middle School. The\nUnits of Study program will not replace the Montessori Method of\nteaching reading and writing. Instead\, it will enhance our literacy\ngoals by ensuring our students are armed with strategies and skills\nthat will make them even more successful.

SUMMARY:Continued Parent Enrichment: Literacy at MAC (for Kindergarten and Elementary students)
DESCRIPTION:The literacy team at MAC will be implementing the Units of Study\nReading and Writing program for grades K-6. This new reading\nprogram’s mission is geared toward making our students skillful and\navid readers and writers. We will share the components and process\nof making a successful impact on our student’s literacy development.\nThe Units of Study program was developed by Teacher’s College\nReading and Writing Project at Columbia University. The Academy\nhas joined the thousands of schools that have implemented the\nTCRWP’s Units of Study for Reading and Writing program for grades\nK-6. We believe the approach to balance literacy developed by\nthe TCRWP are aligned with the process of reading and writing in\nMontessori classrooms from primary through middle School. The\nUnits of Study program will not replace the Montessori Method of\nteaching reading and writing. Instead\, it will enhance our literacy\ngoals by ensuring our students are armed with strategies and skills\nthat will make them even more successful.
