We believe the approach to balance literacy developed by\nthe TCRWP are aligned with the process of reading and writing in\nMontessori classrooms from primary through middle School. The\nUnits of Study program will not replace the Montessori Method of\nteaching reading and writing. DESCRIPTION:Come join us for a discussion of Montessori philosophy at the\nElementary level!\nIn this session we will map out the whole child using Dr. Maria\nMontessori’s philosophy of all the planes of development.\nItems to be discussed are:\n• Focus on the changes of developmental planes of lower and upper\nelementary students\n• Overview of lower and upper elementary curriculum including our\nexciting new Columbia University Reading and Writing Program!\n• Implementing Executive Functioning Skills in Elementary\n• Short video to highlight a balance of expectations for a successful\nand happy child\nMr. Jason from the Polaris community would like to host a parent\nbook club. The title of the book How to Talk so Kids Will Listen. And\nListen So Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber will be discussed.\nThis will be a great opportunity to engage with our community and\nshow you how to best navigate your Elementary child! This CPE is\ngeared towards Polaris and Antares parents\, but we welcome anyone\nfrom the Academy community who is interested in learning more\nabout our elementary program.

SUMMARY:Continued Parent Enrichment: Toileting in the First Three Years of Life
DESCRIPTION:Toilet learning is a natural process and should be done at a pace\nto promote comfort and independence in the child. Encouraging\nchildren to become aware of their bodily functions during the\nsensitive period of development for toileting allows for less distress\nwhen the child is older and more physically able to control their\ntoileting abilities. The Montessori approach to toilet learning is\nto begin at birth and continue throughout the first three years of\nlife. Come and learn more about the Academy’s approach to this\nimportant developmental stage. This event will be hosted by our\nLower School teachers and will include take away material that will\nassist you in becoming a toilet learning expert.
