The Academy’s Upper Elementary and Middle School students participate in the Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) program, which is designed to introduce children to formal global consensus-style cooperation and to inform them of real world problems that will impact their futures. At the Academy, students engage in critical thinking about world issues and work to get a deeper understanding of the problems they study.
Upper Elementary and Middle School students complete country and topic research to create a persuasive style position paper and prepare a speech to be given during one or more of the three annual MMUN conferences (in Chicago, New York City, and Rome). Students have the opportunity to give their speech on the floor of the actual United Nations in New York!
